In my first 10 years shooting stills I’ve been constantly looking for different ways to tell the same story as the motion camera. Instead of seeing the constraints of unit photography, I prefer to look for the opportunities to find another angle, a different sliver of light, or an Actor’s expression that the motion camera missed. I honour this craft and the people I capture.
Highlights from Benjamin
One of the best days of shooting I’ve ever had was for the art department for Under the Banner of Heaven, where I got to create prop family photos of Andrew Garfield and Daisy Edgar Jones. Those photos were featured heavily throughout the series. I also did some gruesome forensic photos of Daisy’s body double. I love this job. My market is very competitive, and the union requirements are significant. But this is something I’m committed to for the rest of my career.
