Hi, I'm Benjamin

In my first 10 years shooting stills I’ve been constantly looking for different ways to tell the same story as the motion camera. Instead of seeing the constraints of unit photography, I prefer to look for the opportunities to find another angle, a different sliver of light, or an Actor’s expression that the motion camera missed. I honour this craft and the people I capture.

My Bio

I’ve been shooting since I was 15. With a background in Theatre, I also became fascinated with Film and TV at the University of Calgary while working on my BFA in Drama. I began shooting production photos for the theatre department, and shortly began seeking opportunities shooting stills for local indies. After working on dozens of features, shorts, TV and web series, I have the knowledge, instinct, common sense and gear to shoot under any condition, in studio or on location.

Highlights from Benjamin

One of my favourite days of shooting was for the Art Department Of Under the Banner of Heaven for HBO. I got to shoot prop family photos of Andrew Garfield and Daisy Edgar Jones, as well as some gruesome forensic photos of Daisy’s Body double. They were all heavily featured throughout the show. It was something I’ll never forget.
